For years I used a point and shoot digital camera, then about ten years ago (around 2009) my mum purchased a Canon Powershot for me. It was an automatic camera with no manual settings but it worked great and I used it for many years before purchasing my Canon Rebel EOS T41. Later I purchased a GoPro 7 Black and I have also used my iPhone 6x for photography as well..
I prefer taking photos of nature and animals. I have done some self portrait work and photo manipulation. I want to do some underwater photos this year (2020). A big thank you to my mum for being my photo caddy, driver and companion and for my first camera.
People have asked me how can someone who is legally blind take photos. Well I can see well enough to see what I want to shoot, it is just too far away for me to see, but when I look through the camera lens, especially my telephoto lens, I see it as if I am looking through a telescope… So taking photos has helped me see the world in a way that I cannot with my naked eye…
The photo on the left was taken in Sparwood, BC in front of the house I lived in with my parents when I was a teen. I could not believe how tame this deer was and obviously very well fed LOL.
The Photo on the right was taken in Wynndel, BC during a cattle drive that David and I were commissioned to photograph. The steam coming off the cattle didn’t show up with the naked eye but when I uploaded the photos and saw this it was a nice surprise… It was an early, chilly but fun morning!
Photo on the left is a self portrait that I took with my iPhone a few years ago.
Photo on the right was taken in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan of a convent and Catholic school. Beautiful old building I wish we could have explored the inside.. I believe part of the building is being used…

I can’t take credit for these two amazing photo that my husband David took of Cedar Wax Wings in our yard. For years we had these cute little guys in our neighbourhood then for some reason we didn’t have them for many years… Not that long ago I was mentioning to David that it was weird that we didn’t have any Cedar Wax Wings around for such a long time.. The have a very distinctive song so David heard them and ran out with my camera and got a bunch of great shots! I think I will print these as a set!

The photo on the left was taken in Sparwood, BC right in front of the house I use to live in with my parents when I was a teen. He was such a calm deer eating and allowed me to take many photos of him. He obviously was a very well fed deer lol.
The photo on the right was taken in Wynndel BC during a cattle drive that David and I were commissioned to photograph. What a fun experience that was on that chilly, rainy, early October morning. Also the mist coming off the cattle was a pleasant surprise because you couldn’t see it with your naked eye. I only noticed the steam after I uploaded the photos… I was so pleased and so were the people who commissioned us to take the photos!
The photo on the left was taken on Sunday May 23, the day after we had to say goodbye to our beautiful fur baby Bastet a Manx/Maine Coon who lived with us for almost fourteen years. She passed away a month before her eighteenth birthday. It was so devastating to say goodbye to our beautiful girl. I posted a story about her and photos of her on my “For The Love of Cats Page”. We were all so upset so David took my mum and I out for a drive on back roads in beautiful West Creston. It helped my heart to mend. On the very same day my beautiful fur. baby was being cremated. We brought her cremains home the following Monday. She has a place of honour my studio/gallery when she spent many hours with me whilst I did art.
The Photo on the right was taken in our back yard of our Laburnum tree in full blossom. The tree is right beside my studio/gallery and David’s shop. The building is dark grey stucco so it looks amazing with the yellow blossoms.. I will post a pic of this on my “Blogs and Vlogs” page. Even though I have seasonal allergies the smell of theses blossoms is just amazing!

The photo on the left was taken at a Medieval Fair that my husband David, my mum, sister Carla and I attended in 2014. It was such a blast and I sold a ton of my work there. The man posing with the, I believe it is a hawk had a ton of people taking his photo. He had a bunch of birds or prey that for us to see. I believe the birds were all rescues.
The Photo on the right was taken on the way to Swing Currant from Wood Mountain Saskatchewan. in 2019. David, my mum and I were visiting our reserve in Saskatchewan. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I could have stayed there for hours!

The photo on the left is of tulips in our garden. I just love spending time in my garden and I wanted to show everyone what it would look like from the perspective of the faerie folk as they venture through our yard. I had to lay on my back in our garden to take this photo. I love the contrast of the flowers with the sky and clouds.
The photo on the right was of our cat Storm. This is the first day that we brought her home from PAWS. She took other cats and her new surroundings very quickly, she is a very friendly cat!

The photo on the left is of our beautiful cat Bastet in the Mystic Garden in our backyard. Bast was only twelve years old in this photo. A local artist painted a portrait of Bastet using this photo.
The photo on the right is of some dead trees in a slew in a farmers field in Saskatchewan. Every time we would to go Saskatchewan I would pass by them so quickly and forget to take a photo of them because I always loved the way the reflect in the water. It is good thing I took the photos when I did because on our last trip to Saskatchewan I noticed that they are starting to rot and fall into the water. Nothing stays the same forever so it is important to capture that image when you get a chance.

The photo on the left is of a Cathedral in Gravelbourg called Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral built in 1918. I love using the wide angle setting on my GoPro when I take photos of structures…
The photo on the right is called The Eye of Autumn. Our cat Autumn was in our sunporch busy watching a bird very intensely. I could actually rest the lens of my camera on her face while I took the photo. I took about eight photos before she finally got tired of me doing this….

The photo on the left was taken just on the other side of Wynndel, BC of an old car that has been sitting on the road side for many years. I noticed they have finally moved it so I am happy I got this photo.
The photo on the right was taken in West Creston of a peaceful cornfield. Have you ever stopped and listened to how a field of corn sounds on a breezy autumn day.. If you haven’t I suggest giving it a try…
Canon EOS Rebel T4I
The photo on the left is of daisies I took while we were at a fruit stand in Erickson, part of Creston. Again I wanted to give the prospective of wee folk walking in the garden. I love taking photos from this prospective. I will be purchasing a macro lens for my camera this year (2020).
The photo on the right is of frost on our car window. UGH I am not a fan of winter or cold weather but I did find this frost to be so amazing. Mother Nature is an incredible artist.

The photo on the left was taken of a local cattle farmer walking with the heard, while they were doing a cattle drive. My husband David and I went out and it was a bit chilly and so much fun. The mist coming off the backs of the cattle didn’t show up through the view finder of the camera. I only saw this after the photos were uploaded. This was a very happy discovery.
The photo on the right is of my mum Margaret walking down to Kootenay Lake. Mum would always take me for drives all over the valley while I took photographs. She calls herself my “Photo Caddie”. We were in search of driftwood.

The photo on the left was taken while we were driving through Alberta just after the Crows Nest Pass. This is looking towards the US. I just love the various colors and layers.
The photo on the right is of a Canada Goose that I took at the Kootenay Lake ferry landing, when David, mum and I were out for a drive.
Canon EOS Rebel T4I
The photo on the left is a Guinea Hen that I took while out on a drive with mum and David. These are such unusual birds. The apparently got out of their pen so it was a good opportunity for me to get a great pic of one.
There is always “The Black Sheep” in every family. This photo on the left was taken of sheep on a farm on the flats in the Creston Valley. I get a chuckle of how it looks like the three white sheep are shunning the “Black Seep of the family.” Of course they weren’t actually ignoring him it just appeared this way in the photo I took..

The photo on the left of a deer was taken on one of the many road trips my husband David and I have taken with my mum. I find since the whole COVID thing has happened and there is far less traffic on the roads these days you see a lot more wildlife out and about.
I see the train a Comin’. The photo on the right was taken in Creston BC. I love the graffiti on the side of the train cars. I think the black and white effect makes me think of the times when hobos used to ride the trains all the time. I suspect that there are still many transient people who still do this.
