3 D Art Faeries

I love doing my artwork but there are times when I am feeling a bit crafty and want to do something a little different. This page features other items that I have created.

Below are some masks that I have made over the past few years. I start off with a generic factory made paper form that you can purchase at any craft shop. Then I add paint and embellishments. Some of my masks are to be hung as wall decorations and others can actually be used.

The warrior mask on the left is no longer available I sold it a few years ago. The warrior mask one over from the right is also no longer available it was also sold a few years ago… The image of the two black and white masks and the mask on the far right are my homage to the Mexican celebration Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos). Sugar Skull style masks (wall hanging) and the sugar skull mask on the right (which can be hung as art or used as a mask) are for sale and on display at our place of business All Signs Graphics & Printing.

I often name my pieces of artwork and each one usually has a story to go with it…

I call this piece “A Japanese Ghost Story”. I love all things Japanese especially their ghost stories…  Japanese ghosts are nasty. Once you experience one it is usually for the rest of your life. This wall hanging is of a ghost working her way out of a wall. Her eyes are black and empty.

Here are some samples of jewelry that I have made. The two on the left are acrylic on small pieces of canvas with glass beads. The two on the right are acrylic on river washed shale, mounted on leather with glass beads. The three pieces on the left have been sold and the Love Cats necklace on the right is available for sale.

The Grave Diggers house is my first 3D art project that I completed in 2014. The branches are from our Contorta tree. I LOVE the twisted branches so whenever I prune the tree I always save them for some future art project.

Now that we have our laser cutter I want to make another haunted house. This house will be where the Boris and Agnes characters that I dreamed about when I was a kid will live. You can see Boris and Agnes on my “Acrylic Painting Gallery”. page.

When I make the house I want to have them standing at the front door. There is a poem that goes with this 3D art. To read the poem please visit my “Homage To Halloween” page.

Here are three examples of three dimensional art that I have created. The piece on the left is The Faeries Harp. In the magic realm faeries play magical spiders web like harps. Humans cannot hear the music of the fae folk but all things in nature can. Making the spiders web was extremely time consuming and gave me a whole new appreciation for the skills of the arachnid. The lettering on the front and the faerie wings were created on our laser cutter at work. I love having all these resources available to me. It has opened an new doorway for me artistically.

The middle piece of artwork, Freedom Flies, was so much fun to make. The lettering and butterfly wings were all created on the laser cutter. The branch that the butterflies are sitting on is from our Contorta tree that grows in our yard. When I prune it I save the branches for craft work.

The piece on the right is called the Faeries Realm. I will eventually be adding a section showing the many stages involved in creating this piece…  The Faerie house was cut on our laser cutter and painted with a textured material to resemble bark, I made the mushrooms and most of the rocks from air dry clay. The faerie was made the same way as the other two pieces. The background was printed on one of our printers at work.

All of these items below are sold. The two outside items are Dancing Sticks that Lakota (Sioux) men use for dancing. They are made of wood that my husband cut out for me and hand painted with acrylic paint. The mane and belly fringe are glass beads.

The two cushions in the middle are hand painted and made by me. They have a split in the back so it can be removed from the cushion form for washing. The embellishment can be removed for washing as well. I will be making more cushions in 2020 but instead of hand painting I will hot-press images of my art to fabric.

In the beginning of this year (2020) I started making wooden laser cut jewelry. I design them on the computer and paint them with acrylic paint. The middle image is me modelling my favourite set. I think it is important for us artists to keep some of our own creations for our enjoyment! Looking forward to making more laser cut jewelry and other items in the future…

Even though this is art work and not craft work, I decided to put these mini-original pieces of art work in my “Being Crafty”section because all these pieces are mixed media. Some are graphite pencil, colored pencil, ink and acrylic paint or a combination of the mentioned.

This photo carousel has eighteen different drawings and paintings, including mat and frame they are roughly 4”x 6” in size. These are all available at All Signs Graphics and Printing. Because these are so small there are no prints or cards made of them.

The photo carousel will run through the photos itself or you can click on the arrows to make it go faster.
