Hi everyone I’m Mistress Margaux and I would like to welcome you to my “all Things Halloween Page”. I was born near the end of October so my birthday was always associated with Halloween. Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love the earthy smell of dried leaves mixed with rich wood smoke, I love the way the mountains in our valley look so purple at this time of year. I enjoy walking at night and listening to the leaves crunch under my feet and them get carried away by the cold spirited wind as it blows through my hair. To me there is nothing more beautiful than the full moon in October.
To me the veil between this world and the next is thin making the mood of the month mysterious and spirited. This time of the year is when you are most likely to see a ghost.
On this page I will be sharing with you everything about my favorite time of year from spooky art and photography to poetry and stories. I have an endless supply of images and content to add to this page so for those of you who love Halloween I hope you enjoy your visit to this page.
The mask that I am wearing was created by me. I love masks and dressing up any time of the year but on Halloween this is especially fun!
Below is a video I made featuring photographs by my husband David and I. I edited the photos in PhotoShop and made the video using a template from the iMovie app. I want to learn how to make my own movies on Adobe Premiere.
I call this photo I took with my iPhone of some Halloween decorations,
Skeletons in my Closet.
Remember never accuse someone of having skeletons in their closet or they just might let them out and show them to you. I think this photo definitely has a Tim Burton feel to it. As some of you know I am a huge Tim Burton fan!!!

Graveyards
By Margaux Allard
When I was a kid, I remember my mum and dad always enjoying exploring graveyards. I was always taught that graveyards were a place to be loved and not forgotten.
Today my husband and I still love to explore old graveyards. I also love to take videos and photographs of graveyards as well.
I know some people have issues with people photographing or recording graveyards and I disagree with this idea. The reason I do is because I think graveyards should be celebrated not forgotten about. If my loved ones had fancy ornate mausoleums or headstones, as long as people are respectful it wouldn’t bother me if someone recorded or photographed them.
Most of the graveyards that my husband and I explore are out in the middle of nowhere and you can come and go freely. Some graveyards are actually watched over daily by a caretaker and sometimes you have to ask permission before you photograph or record anything. Some places do not allow recording in the graveyards and some places will charge a fee so you can do this. I find this only happens in city graveyards where a caretaker is working there all day.
I love exploring older graveyards with the ornate headstones and mausoleums and crypts but sadly the modern graveyards are all just flat headstones now for easy maintenance.
My husband and I are always respectful when we explore graveyards. I hope you enjoy some of the photos I have taken over the years of our explorations.
Something I have noticed is that trees often grow odd shaped in graveyards. People say it is because of the spirits in the graveyard but I am wondering if it is because of the embalming fluid? I know eventually some tree roots would find their way inside near by coffins… Just a thought…
The photo on the right was taken in the Crows Nest Pass. This graveyard was so amazing resting on a hillside overlooking the valley. I love how trees grow in weird shapes in graveyards…
The Headstone in the middle was taken in a graveyard in Saskatchewan it was so peaceful and beautiful there was no traffic and all you could hear was the wind.
The virgin Mary praying was taken in a graveyard in Saskatchewan. I love how there is a spiderweb on her. Makes me thing of a song by Jim White called jail bird,
The beautiful stone bench in the left photo is sort of sad. It was beside the grave of a small boy that was off in a corner by itself. My sister was spooked because she said that she saw the ghost of the little boy and he seemed sad.
Looking at the picture in the middle. This graveyard on the hill in the Crows Nest Pass was just packed full of graves and there was even a few crypts. It was just beautiful.
The iron cross was also in the same graveyard in the Crows Nest Pass. I loved the simplistic and gothic feel of the cross.
I believe the graveyard in the left photo was nestled in the trees on a hillside along the highway between Yahk and Moyie on the way to Cranbrook. It is very well looked after and over looks the lake.
The Father / Mother headstone in the middle image is both sad and beautiful. When I go to graveyards I often wonder who the people were and how they left this earth and what they did while they were alive.
The image on the right is another photo from that amazing graveyard at the Crows nest pass. This place was huge. Sadly David and I didn’t have as much time as we wanted to explore it. Next time we are in that area we will make sure to take the time to go through this amazing graveyard more slowly and enjoy it!

Well, it is obvious that I absolutely love Halloween. I also love to dress up and not just at Halloween. I have a ton of costumes and props that I use for creative photography and artistic photos and yes for costumes for Halloween. I also collect hand made brooms, I have several of them. This is just one example of the brooms that I have.
Some of you might know that I call myself a Pagan. I worship the earth and practice witchcraft. I have been practicing witchcraft since I was twenty. I also love anything Goth and for many years have dressed up mainly in black.
I took this photo about 2015 or 2014 and created this meme recently. I think it is important to be playful, theatrical and imaginative. Role playing and letting your imagination run wild and misbehaving is lots of fun!
